1. Agree that being a spectator alone to an event like this brings risk that this could happen

2. It was not the spectator trying to show off, get a better view or run along side the truck. That dude is running for his life.

3. The truck hit him on the back leg as he was running. Launching his shoe and phone.

4. broken leg, maybe broken hip...very lucky all in

EDIT: its possible that the spectator could have been trying to run in from of the truck as a thrill. its hard to say.

EDIT AGAIN: its almost certain that he is trying to run in front of the truck for a thrill. I redact #2

no. Looking at it closely reveals that everyone here was running for their lives because they see a truck headed towards them. His mistake was running INTO the open lane, as opposed to the other direction.

yeah, upon further review I agree. At first it looked like they were all trying to flee but it doesn’t appear to be the case. I also noticed he had a lanyard clip so I wonder if he was part of a crew

I thought that too, but it looks like he comitted to right long before that are to initiate a pass. He probably saw a path to the right as an opportunity to pass. Either the guy freaked and tried to run or he was getting his bull run on.

I dunno, it looks like he’s actually trying to get a shot running across in front of the truck. It looks like he’s holding out his arm armed with a phone at the start of these freeze frames. Either way, he’s lucky it was only his trailing leg that got hit. Full marks to the driver for avoiding a fatality.
